Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter Scot MacDonald MLC joined Service NSW CEO Damon Rees to congratulate the Cessnock Service Centre team on serving more than 73,000 customers since opening in June 2016.
“Service NSW brings together the most common types of government services, including Roads and Maritime Services, Fair Trading and Births, Deaths and Marriages under one roof” Mr MacDonald said.
“Customers no longer have to travel to different government offices or agencies to complete transactions, now you can visit a Service NSW one-stop and complete all those different transactions in the one visit.”
“Vehicle, builder and tradespeople licenses and checks, rental bonds and passports are all examples of government services that Service NSW can assist with.”
Mr MacDonald said wait times at the Cessnock Service Centre were low with customers on average being in and out of the Centre in less than 11 minutes. The Centre employs 12 staff.
“I congratulate the great work that Service Centre Manager Tricia Nichols and the team have done,” Mr MacDonald said.
Mr Rees said that Service NSW was continuing to introduce new services and technology to make it easier for customers.
“Many customers can now complete their registration and licence renewals online, 24-hours seven days per week. Already around 90 percent of customers renew their vehicle registration online, saving time,” Mr Rees said.
“We are continuing to work with agencies across government to improve the way services and transactions are delivered, and in the near future customers can expect to see a host of new features and services, such as licences, being made available digitally.”
The Cessnock Service Centre is located at the corner of North Avenue and Darwin Street, Cessnock and is open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
