Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter Scot MacDonald MLC today announced that a reverse vending machine for the Return and Earn container deposit scheme is planned to come online at Belmont Golf Club from 7am this coming Sunday 10th June.
Belmont Golf Club is located at 801A Pacific Highway, Marks Point.
“People will be able to choose to donate their refund directly to charities, receive a docket redeemable for cash or an electronic transfer using PayPal at the machines,” Mr MacDonald said.
“Return and Earn is the largest litter reduction initiative to be introduced in NSW by the NSW Liberal National Government and now there are more collection points for the Belmont community to be involved.”
“Over 41 million containers were returned across the Hunter during the first 6 months of the Return & Earn scheme.”
“There has been widespread community support for Return and Earn, with over 388 million containers returned across the state since 1st December 2017.”
“It is terrific to see my community served by this new Return and Earn vending machine. It means Belmont residents won’t have to travel far to use these vending machines and our environment benefits,” Lake Macquarie City Councillor Nick Jones said.
Most drink containers between 150ml and three litres are eligible for the 10c refund. Containers should be intact (not crushed or broken) and have a readable barcode to be eligible.
