Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter Scot MacDonald has announced that the NSW Liberal National Government has signed on as a Foundation Supporter of Simulation Australasia Limited (SimAust).
SimAust are due to move into new premises at The Business Centre in Newcastle today and Mr MacDonald welcomed the commencement of SimAust’s operations following its relocation from Adelaide.
Mr MacDonald said the interstate relocation was a real coup for the Hunter.
“The NSW Liberal National Government is proud to support SimAust through a $12,000 grant and this support will be pivotal in the establishment of their new office in Newcastle,” Mr MacDonald said.
“SimAust is a multi-sector peak association for the simulation industry in Australasia. It boasts a membership of 1,200 including international businesses, universities and individuals across Australia. Industries covered by SimAust include medical, defence and transport and logistics.
“Simulation is a growth industry and the establishment of SimAust will make the Hunter the centre of gravity for the national industry.”
“SimAust has strong ties to the Hunter with members including University of Newcastle and Simulation Modelling Services as well as national and international defence companies such as Nova Systems, Boeing and BAE Systems.
“SimAust viewed Newcastle as a better base to support and build its membership and be a catalyst for growth in the sector”.
