Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast Scot MacDonald MLC congratulated Central Coast Marine Rescue Statistics Officer Mr Albert Morris on being named a finalist in the 2017 Rotary NSW Emergency Services Community Awards at a ceremony today at the NSW Parliament.
Mr Morris is one of 24 emergency services workers or volunteers to be shortlisted for this year’s awards and one of four in their category.
“Albert Morris is a local hero who has given 28 years of service to Marine Rescue NSW and is exceptionally deserving of this recognition.
“Our local emergency services personnel and volunteers selflessly respond to all manner of emergencies and I’m very proud that Mr Morris has been praised on a state stage for their efforts.
“On behalf of the Central Coast community I thank Mr Morris for their dedication and commitment to our community and wish him all the best for the awards.”
Finalists come from the following emergency services:
- Fire & Rescue NSW;
- Marine Rescue NSW;
- NSW Ambulance;
- NSW Rural Fire Service;
- NSW State Emergency Service; and
- NSW Volunteer Rescue Association.
Minister for Emergency Services Troy Grant said the awards celebrate the outstanding contribution of emergency services workers and volunteers who tirelessly work to ensure the safety of others in times of disaster and devastation.
“We should never take for granted the work our emergency services staff and volunteers do and it’s important to acknowledge the unsung heroes who have gone above and beyond,” Mr Grant said.
“There is almost 500 years of combined service from this year’s finalists from all corners of the State and I thank them all for their exemplary service, sacrifice and spirit to their local community.”
Finalists will attend an Awards Presentation Dinner, to be held at the Bankstown Sports Club on 4 August, where winners for each service will be announced plus two special winners:
