Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter, Scot MacDonald MLC today announced that one of the region’s newest events, “Love Seafood – Port Stephens” will be awarded $20,000 from the NSW Government’s 2017 Incubator Event Fund.
Mr MacDonald said the Fund, managed by the State’s tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, assists regional events in their infancy to grow attendance and boost the local visitor economy.
“Events play an important role in reflecting the unique character of Port Stephens and I am delighted that Destination Port Stephens will receive funding from Round Two of the 2017 Incubator Event Fund.
“This wonderful event will receive support to help deliver a superior visitor experience and raise the event’s profile, driving increased awareness and attendance to Port Stephens
NSW Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall said “Love Seafood” was one of five successful events in regional NSW held between July and December 2017, which will receive grants through Round Two of the 2017 Incubator Event Fund.
“Attracting visitors to rural and regional NSW is a top priority for the NSW Government,” Mr Marshall said.
“This Fund will have a positive impact on local hotels, restaurants, shops and attractions, stimulating tourism across regional and rural NSW and creating more jobs. I congratulate the event organisers on their successful application which will boost the regional NSW visitor economy.”
The 2017 Incubator Event Fund offers one-off annual grants of up to $20,000 to those staging an event for the first or second time to fund elements such as staging, venue hire, research, marketing and publicity activities.
The Fund is part of the expanded Regional Flagship Events Program which also includes the Flagship Event Fund and the Event Development Fund. For more information on the Program, go to www.destinationnsw.com.au/rfep.
The “Love Seafood” festival will be held in Nelson Bay between 1st and 31st of August.
